Become a Red Cross volunteer 

 

  • Become an instructor to teach American Red Cross CPR/FA/AED classes to community groups at the American Red Cross building and/or at community or corporate sites.

  • Become a community presenter to assist Red Cross in delivering our mission by educating community organizations and agencies to prevent, prepare for and respond to emergencies.

  • Become a member of our disaster action team which is responsible for providing assistance to our community members which have been affected by disasters.

4.     Give the gift of life – become a blood donor or volunteer for a blood drive.

 

5.     Use technology skills to help the Chapter update web site; post Red Cross volunteer opportunities or educate Red Cross employees and volunteers on the use social networking web sites.

 

6.     Support the mission of Red Cross by help people prevent, prepare and respond to emergencies by taking a First Aid and CPR class.

 

7.     Assist Red Cross in delivering mission by raising funds at special events on October 9 – 11, 2009 at the Dinwiddie Motorpark Speedway and our annual motorcycle ride in April 2010.

 

8.     Providing free janitorial services for our building.

 

9.     Volunteer as board members to help provide leadership in initiating, developing, overseeing, and conducting the fund raising activities of the Chapter.

 

10.    Assist and support Red Cross services and programs by writing grants to fund specific projects.

 

 

 

 

 

 

The American Red Cross Southside Area Chapter NEEDS volunteers.

We have the following areas:

Disaster Relief

- These volunteers are the life-line between the Chapter and those needing the services we provide. Assisting with preparing for, and responding to natural disasters is just one way to give back to the community. These volunteers are given training to manage and support vicitms in their most dire time of need. The work is challenging and very rewarding.

Public Relations/Fund Raising

- These volunteers are what keeps the Chapter alive! If you enjoy talking to people, attending events, and 'making connections', WE NEED YOU! We serve a very large community area and simply do not have the staff support to be everywhere at once. These volunteers would help spread the work of the American Red Cross by going to events and handing out helpful information to the public. These volunteers don't have to 'ask' for money in order to get it. Just making the public aware of the Southside Chapter's activities and showing the community our support goes a long way. There are always things happening so even if you only have a small amount of time to give, it will be used.
